We all know and love the big luxury-sports car brand Lamborghini. The sleek aggressive styling of all the Lamborghini models paired with the monstrous V10 and V12 motors make the best-sounding, and looking, cars. However, if you’ve ever sat in or rode in a Lamborghini, you will know that they don’t make the best daily driver cars. I would take a safe bet and say that most of us were pretty surprised when Lamborghini came out with a performance SUV suited to be the most extreme but practical daily driver available. First shown off in 2012 as a concept car, little did we know that the SUV, dubbed the Urus, was not going anywhere but up anytime soon. After a few years, Lamborghini finally debuted the Urus as a consumer vehicle in February 2018. 

 

The Urus now takes the crown title of “best-selling model in the shortest time”, with them producing 20,000 units after only four short years. The Urus truly is the perfect combination of luxury and speed. Don’t even get us started on how good the Urus looks, especially with how they derived a lot of the styling from the infamous Aventador lineup. Naturally, with all these positives they were bound to be a huge hit. You can go stay one or two days in Los Angeles and see enough Urus’s to last a lifetime. While this is in fact a good thing, as fellow car enthusiasts this can be slightly frustrating. Every stock Urus looks the same, and we definitely want to stand out amongst the crowd. Of course, you’re probably thinking of body kits as your go-to to stand out, but body kits most of the time are strictly for cosmetic purposes. What if you want to be able to gap all the other performance SUV’s on the road? What options are available to you?

 

Luckily, with the Urus being so popular, that also means that aftermarket companies are constantly competing to create the latest and greatest new product. Everything from exhausts, to whole turbo rebuilds are available. Although, these options are pretty expensive and yield little result without spending a pretty penny on parts and labor. Our recommended ECU Flash Tune is this VR Tuned ECU Flash for the Lamborghini Urus. We recommend this one specifically because we’ve tested it on multiple Urus’s with amazing success. With this tune, not only do you get the obvious huge power gains but driving characteristics are also altered. We know you’re dying to hear what our power numbers are looking like. Of course, we couldn’t make a whole post about a tuned Urus without strapping one down on our Mustang dyno and running it ourselves. Running the Urus at a complete stock setup returned data that read 650 horsepower, along with 626 ft/lbs of torque. Not bad for an SUV, but also not satisfactory for us. After pulling the ECU and tuning it, we ran it once more on the new modified software. The returned data read back 720 horsepower with 740 ft/lbs of torque. That’s a impressive 70 horsepower gain, with 114 ft/lbs of torque gain. All from just a software change. You can clearly see why we recommend such a product.

This blog post was written for the complete beginner to go from noob to having a solid general understanding of tuning and the different options available to you. Tuning can be described as changing ignition timing to achieve a variety of different goals. Those goals can simply cool little additions such as pops and bangs, all the way to configuring the best setup for a new turbocharger. Custom engine tunes can be very expensive, time-consuming, and risky. If your tuner makes a mistake, there can be catastrophic consequences. Not only are those issues present, but also the fact that most tunes will void any warranty.

Like most of us, after buying a new car that ‘modification itch’ starts getting to us. We instantly want to add, remove, or change some things with the vehicle. However, that warranty commonly holds us back. After dealing with this issue for so long, we’ve finally found a simple fix for forced induction vehicles. Our fix? Tuning boxes. A tuning box is a physical box that sits inside the engine bay that tricks the engine into running slightly differently for better performance. They work by intercepting the signal sent from the engine to the ECU, and changing the signal to trick the ECU into sending in more boost. The extra boost creates more horsepower along with an increase in torque, resulting in a way preppy car. “Won’t this still void my warranty?” Nope! The boxes plug right into the already-existing plugs. This way you don’t have to splice any wires, or cut into the harness itself! The boxes also have a sticky adhesive on the back, making it possible to put them anywhere in the engine bay without having to drill new holes or use those pesky zip ties. “What about the ECU? Considering it plays with the signal sent to it, won’t the dealer know that I installed the box?” Since our boxes don’t change anything hardware-wise with the ECU, and we aren’t changing any software on the ECU, there’s no evidence of tampering with the ECU! You can simply remove the box, reinstall the cables as they were originally, and you’re back to normal!

Now that we know the Tuning Boxes won’t void any warranties, how is the user experience? The user experience is pretty basic and the installation process is easy to understand. The installation should take no longer than 20 minutes, and just requires you to pick a spot for the box to sit, plug in the required cables, and turn it on! The box comes with seven different levels of power, zero being stock and seven being the highest power mode available. These different power levels truly give you full control over the power of your vehicle at a moments notice. The boxes do come with an optional bluetooth functionality that can be added. Adding in the bluetooth option allows you to connect to the box remotely via your phone. This adds an extra level of comfort, by not having to get under the hood and use the manual switches. One of the additional options included is the ability to set a custom ‘warm-up’ timer. This allows the tuning box to not activate until the vehicle is at the proper running temperature. The all-new 2022 Polaris RZR Pro R debuted in early 2021, making pretty big claims about the newer engine, suspension, and even chassis stability improvements. The RZR Pro R boasts Polaris’ new ProStar Fury 2.0L, naturally aspirated engine pushing an impressive 225hp! The biggest engine that has ever been put into a side-by-side. Not only did they obviously add some good power, but they also made the suspension substantially better with 29 inches of travel distance, and a brand new suspension control system called DYNAMIX DV. Dynamix reads data from the suspension components over 200 times per second and makes adequate adjustments on the fly to keep you planted on the dirt. The one-piece chassis also saw a huge upgrade with 2-inch tubing, and tapered joints to add increased strength where it matters the most. Of course, we could go into more detail about what else the new Pro R has to offer, as there’s a lot more, but we decided to keep this relatively short and get to the point. 

 

Upon seeing the new Polaris Pro R we were impressed at what Polaris was able to do, however, we knew we had to come up with a tune to push this platform to its true potential. Why do we feel the need to tune it this early into its release? Well, we aren’t called VR Tuned because we thought it sounded cool. Why should you tune your Pro R? Well, ECU flash tuning is one of the easiest modifications to do to increase power, amongst a variety of other benefits. ECU flash tuning is the best bang for your buck modification available on the aftermarket for the Polaris Pro R as of right now. Plus, you don’t need to do much physical labor to get impressive power gains…a definite plus in this Arizona summer weather. All you have to do is remove the ECU to send us for a bench tune, as that’s the only available programming method as of right now. We do offer a 24-hour turnaround time and overnight shipping to insure quick and prompt servicing. So what does our tune do and what are our results?

To start our tuning process, we borrowed a 2022 Polaris RZR Pro R from a wonderful customer of ours. This Pro R sits on 35-inch tires, so please keep in mind that this will significantly increase the drivetrain loss when compared to our competitors. Another thing we would like to disclose right away is that it’s July, in Arizona. It’s hotter than your local CanAm lover when you tell them that Polaris is clearly superior…aka it’s between 105-106 degrees when we ran our dyno tests. After running our stock baseline runs, we read 155 wheel horsepower with 190ft/lbs of torque. Not bad for a UTV, but not the best…yet. We then flashed the ECU with our Polaris RZR Pro R ECU Flash Tune and ran the dyno again with similar environmental conditions. Upon completing the tune, we read results of 165 wheel horsepower and 195 ft/lbs of torque. An increase of around 10 horsepower, and 5 ft/lbs of torque. 

 

Not only does the tune add some extra torque and horsepower, but it also removes the factory top speed limiter, increases the rev limiter, reduces the fan temperatures, and more. The factory top speed limiter sets the limit at 85mph. We were able to remove the speed limiter and get speeds of up to 100mph pretty easily. The rev limiter was also adjusted from keeping us at an 8650 rpm limit. We adjusted it to a solid limit of 8800 rpm. The peak power provided from the Pro R sits at around 8,400 rpm, although we wanted to make sure we can reach speeds over 85mph+ which required a slightly higher rev limit. With the stock fan, we observed temperatures of around 190 degrees. After our tune, we were able to bring down that average temp to 185 degrees. From the factory, the Polaris Pro R also runs just a tad bit lean. Of course, we fixed that fuel issue right up with the tune by correcting the air-to-fuel ratios. All of these changes were done with just a dyno tune. Oh, and did I mention that this was all done on a stock clutch?

The Jaguar F-Type is one of those sports cars that elegantly stands out amongst the rest of the busy traffic. Boasting a new updated sleek look, the F-Type doesn’t only look good, it really puts some power down on the ground. The impressive stock power figures are brought to us by a 5.0L supercharged V8, with an all-wheel drive drivetrain. Like most of us, this customer was looking to add some real quick power before doing any physical modifications to his! Luckily for him, we had the perfect answer, a VR Tuned ECU Flash. 

 

ECU Flashes can be an incredibly easy way to snatch some extra power out of the stock motor on your car, all without even touching a wrench or power tool.  They work by retiming some of the ignition on the computer of your car. ECU Tuning can also change the boost levels on forced induction vehicles to increase boost where needed. On the F-Type, we also made some changes to the torque limiter. Think of ECU Tuning as rewiring the brain of your car to do the same tasks, just incredibly more efficient. Doing all these changes opens up a whole new level of possibilities available to you. ECU flashes have always been a very popular mod due to the ‘bang for your buck’ value. What other mods can you install for cheap that will increase power this much? You can even use ECU Flashing for things not related to power, such as towing and increased MPG. However, in this blog, we’ll stick with just talking power numbers for the F-Type.

The VR Tuned ECU Flash really stands out amongst the other flash files as ours provides a magnitude of additional benefits ontop of the power gains. For example, with the VR Tuned ECU Flash, basic bolt-on performance mods will not require a retune of the vehicle. Adding modifications such as exhausts, pulleys, intakes, and plenums will also not require a retune, as the ECU will adjust itself according to the new hardware. Of course, the same applies to using different fuel types in your car. We also offer different stages of power tuning so you don’t have to go full-on added power if you don’t want to. We assume you’re reading this as an interest in the power gains, so we’ll be focusing mostly on that. 

 

After strapping it down, we ran three baseline stock runs to gather average wheel horsepower and torque figures. Please keep in mind that it’s around 100 degrees here in the dyno room. Therefore, we can expect a little lower than normal performance due to the supercharger not being able to perform at its best. Our results came out to a total of 423 wheel horsepower, and 437 ft/lbs of torque. These numbers aren’t bad, they just aren’t up to our standards. We’re curious to see if we can push F-Type R sort of figures with just our tune. However, we know for a fact that we can push this beast over 500 horsepower pretty easily. 

Shop ECU Flash Tunes for the Jaguar F-Type

After flashing the ECU, we ran the Jaguar F-Type a couple more times to get average tuned power numbers. We are based in Arizona, and it happens to be in the middle of Summer when we’re running the dyno. Because of this, we are expecting our new power numbers to be a little lower than usual due to excess heat in our dyno room. Our new tuned power numbers came out to  511 wheel horsepower with 502 ft/lbs of torque. That’s a staggering 88 wheel horsepower gain & a gain of 65 ft/lbs of torque with just a tune! Pretty impressive, right? As mentioned earlier, we did alter the torque limiter. Doing this greatly increases our throttle response, allowing us to climb the RPM range way quicker. 

 

In conclusion, ECU flashes are an insanely easy way to increase power quickly. Specifically, with the VR Tuned ECU Flash, you really can’t beat the additional power along with the new benefits. We were able to tune the Jaguar F-Type within 5-10 minutes and gain over 80 horsepower and over 60 ft/lbs of torque. We fully believe that without the 100-degree weather, we could achieve even higher power figures with the same amount of effort. By now, most of you are familiar with our VR Tuned packages and have probably seen our features on the Ford Bronco ECU tuning kit. The VR Tuned kit is engineered to unleash the true potential of the Ford Bronco without affecting its warranty. Upon the release of the 2021 Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo RR, many enthusiasts were pleased with the new improvements compared to the 2020 model. The industry-first “smart-shox” were unveiled in the 2021 model and feature three different ride modes that drastically improve handling and response. Precision driving is easily obtainable thanks to this new and improved technology, but one of the biggest gripes owners are finding is the power output has not changed in the slightest.

The new MG1CA920 ECU that is offered in the 2021 Can-Am X3 Turbo RR has proven to be an absolute nightmare to flash. VR Tuned has been working closely with a manufacturer to create a protocol that has allowed us to unlock the true potential of this new ECU.

VR Tuned just released an ECU flash for your 2021 Turbo RR that brings the power output from a measly 195hp to 220hp which is a considerable difference for just one modification. Compared to other highly modified machines, this increase in performance is achievable with a stock machine. No exhaust, intake, clutch, intercooler, or charge pipes have to be modified to gain this kind of power which means simple bolt-on modifications will yield an even higher power output with the VR Tuned ECU Flash!

Along with the improvement in power, the VR Tuned ECU Flash increases peak boost and boost delivery. This will allow boost to come on faster and harder which gives you the upper hand in performance. Utilizing timing, fuel trims, boost pressure, limiters, and many other elements our highly experienced tuning staff were able to dial the air-to-fuel ratio (AFR) to 12.0-12.2 thanks to internal and external data logging on our Mustang Dynamometer.

Another major improvement from the VR Tuned ECU flash is the throttle response. Naturally, the stock throttle response is laggy and slow on the 2021 Turbo RR which can create frustration as there is a delay in the power delivery when mashing the throttle. The ECU flash combats this issue completely by boosting the signal to the throttle pedal and allows the throttle body to open much faster and delivers power much sooner compared to the factory.

Based on data collected from harsh driving conditions, the fan temperature actuation has been lowered to kick the fans on sooner to keep the coolant and oil temps lower for higher efficiency. To minimize the effect of heat soak, the intercooler fan also engages at a lower temperature. The cooling and intercooler fan engagement temps can be adjusted according to your preferences.

Alongside these fantastic performance and efficiency improvements, the VR Tuned ECU Flash also increases the RPM limiter to 8,600 versus 8,300 RPMs from the factory. This improvement will give owners a little more headroom in the power band and stretch the legs of your Rotax 900cc turbocharged engine. The speed limiter has also been removed to prevent the 2021 Turbo RR from limiting your desire for more speed.

In the last few years, high-end luxury/performance SUVs have massively grown in popularity. Many of them are essentially built and designed for buyers who would typically purchase an exotic car, but who wants the extra space of an SUV. To appeal to these types of buyers, Bentley created the Bentayga.

Instead of building an SUV with a V6 or V8 performance engine, Bentley went completely over-the-top in typical fashion and gave the Bentayga a twin-turbocharged W12 engine. With such an insane engine, the Bentayga has some pretty impressive performance in stock form, outputting 608hp and 664lb-ft of torque. While that’s a lot of power, it’s not everything that the W12 engine has to offer.

Luckily, we had the chance to install our VR Tuned ECU flash on a local customer’s Bentayga at the Vivid Racing headquarters. As usual, we started with a baseline power run to see what kind of power the Bentayga is actually putting to the ground in stock form. With a solid baseline run, we can easily see the power difference from stock to tuned.

With our all-wheel-drive Mustang dynamometer and high ambient desert temperatures, we expected to see around a 20% drivetrain loss when performing the baseline run. We ran the Bentayga three times to get an average power figure and to ensure we have an accurate number.

  • Run 1: 563whp and 694wtq
  • Run 2: 568whp and 714wtq
  • Run 3: 577whp and 696wtq
  • AVG: 569whp and 701wtq

That’s obviously a huge amount of power in stock form and we were very impressed with the Bentayga. With the baseline runs completed, we flashed the ECU with our VR Tuned software which takes about 10-20 minutes in total.

With the Bentaya properly flashed we turned it back on, got changed into a captain’s jacket, and began our dyno runs. The important thing here is the difference in horsepower and torque compared to stock. Not too surprisingly, we found huge power gains from the midrange all the way to redline, where the tuned Bentayga output nearly 625whp and nearly 750wtq!

Power isn’t everything and our VR Tuned ECU flashes also aim to improve fuel economy, throttle response, and drivability, all while keeping everything as reliable as possible. Predictable, the Bentayga was insanely fast during our test drive.

In the world of small performance-oriented SUVs, the Porsche Macan has long been one of the favorite options for many enthusiasts. It’s small, nimble, and it offers enough performance to take many modern “sports cars” by surprise. Thanks to Porsche moving toward a fully turbocharged product lineup, getting more power of the Macan S has never been easier.

The 2020 Macan S features an all-new 3.0L V6 with a single turbocharger setup. This is quite a bit different than previous Macans which had the option for a twin-turbo V6 engine. There are pros and cons for both types of turbocharging systems, but with the new 2020 set up comes new opportunities for more power, all of which can be unlocked with a simple ECU flash.

Luckily, the ECU placement on the Macan is extremely easy to get. Once it’s removed, it can quickly and easily be unlocked on the tuning bench which allows it to be flashed with different tuning parameters. Before we installed the new tune, we took the Macan S over to our dyno to get some baseline power figures, which allows us to measure to increase in power accurately once the tune is installed.

With our all-wheel-drive Mustang dynamometer and high-ambient temperatures in Arizona, we expected relatively low baseline numbers. In totally stock form, the 2020 Macan S put down 293hp and 350lb-ft, which is about what we expected. With a few runs we knew we were getting consistent numbers, so it was time for some tuning.

With the ECU flashed with our VR Tuned system, we tested the Macan S in the same environment with nearly the same ambient temperature. With more boost, improved air/fuel ratios, optimized ignition timing, and many other changes, the 2020 Macan S put down an impressive 316hp and 439lb-ft.

Due to high temperatures and the Macan’s relatively small turbocharger, peak horsepower gains are relatively modest, but the mid-range and low-end power are massively improved. Mid-range power is arguably the most important for day-to-day driving and 0-60 runs since the amount of time spent at high RPM is much less than the time spent at low and mid-range RPM.

On the road, the Macan S is significantly faster when tuned, again thanks to the low-end and midrange RPM power increase. With the tune installed, the Macan rips from 0-60mph significantly faster than stock and makes it much more fun to drive!

Porsche is well known for engineering a race car with a streetcar chassis. The track testing each vehicle goes through before production allows for ultimate refinement. Even with the GT3, there are still improvements to be made for a track-engineered vehicle.

Our customer @bufferovrflo shows us just how true this is with all of the tasteful modifications featured on his GT3. One thing with any vehicle that can be improved no matter the engineering is the braking system. To help heat dissipation, Brembo Type-3 slotted brake rotors were installed.

The slotting pattern prevents brake fade under heavy braking, which allows the use of more aggressive brake compounds. Making this vehicle his own, a set of APR carbon fiber canards offer a sleek complement to the performance styling.

For an extra touch of carbon fiber, an RSS rear engine gurney flap was installed completing the rear end. A Soul Performance side muffler bypass opens up the 3.8L flat-six engine to let it breathe. Lastly, Agency Power PDK paddle shifters were installed to improve shifting response and feel through the cockpit.

Overall, this GT3 has quite a few modifications that improve performance and personalization. No matter the vehicle many enthusiasts will upgrade to transform it to be something they enjoy driving each time. Even simple modifications can truly make a car unique and this GT3 is the perfect example.

To maintain the ideal suspension geometry on the FK8 Civic Type R, Honda was forced to use large 20″ wheels with a very high 60mm offset. Although this gives the FK8 an ideal suspension setup (on paper), the OEM wheels are far too big for the Civic. Luckily, replacing the OEM wheels with smaller and more aggressive wheels is very easy.

The WedsSport RN-05M feature a strong and lightweight flow forged construction with side cut spokes for additional weight reduction. A unique feature of the RN-05M is the shape of the rim which allows for a large amount of air volume for better tire stability and load management. One of the biggest complaints about the 2010+ Toyota 4Runner is how underpowered the 4.0L V6 engine is. The 4Runner is a pretty large SUV and Toyota should have equipped it with a larger V8 engine. Unfortunately, that’s not the case and the 4Runner is well known for being ridiculously underpowered and slow.

If you want more power, you could always swap in a V8, but that is an incredibly expensive and long process. The other option is to install basic bolt-on modifications, but you’ll probably still want more power after installing bolt-on parts.

If you want to increase the performance of your 4Runner and give it the power it needs, you need forced induction. This is where Magnuson comes in with their supercharger kit. Their supercharger kit utilizes a high-efficiency TVS1320 hybrid-roots supercharger with an integrated intercooler.

When the new A90 Supra was initially announced, was a lot of initial skepticism about the BMW B58 engine under the hood. It has since proven itself as an awesome chassis powered by a fantastic engine. The A90 is relatively new, but a lot of aftermarket companies have already started to offer parts for it.

There are already quite a few aftermarket exhaust options for the A90, so to help you decide we compiled this list of our favorite A90 Supra exhaust systems.

1. VR Performance

The VR Performance Exhaust System for the A90 Supra features precision engineering, lightweight construction, advanced features, high-quality materials, and a loud exhaust note. Constructed from high-quality titanium, the VR Performance boasts a unique sound that complements the aggressive tone of the B58 engine under the hood.

This system features large 90mm diameter titanium piping and is divided into oval sections for optimal clearance under the vehicle. Featuring Valvetronic technology and a 76mm muffler section, the driver can adjust the sound level of their exhaust at the touch of a button.

Whether you’re ripping by on the highway or cruising through a neighborhood, this exhaust system provides the best of both worlds thanks to the Valvetronic system, giving you a level of flexibility that can only be offered by valved exhaust systems. 2. Capristo

Capristo is best known for their high-end exhausts for high-end cars, such as the Audi R8. They have decades of experience building exhaust systems for everything from street cars to Lamborghini Squadra Corse race cars. Their exhaust for the A90 Supra replaced everything from the OPF back and includes integrated exhaust valves.

The system is constructed from high-quality T304 stainless steel with a mirror finish. When paired with the Secondary OPF Spare Pipes, this exhaust shows gains of up to 20hp. The valve system worked with the OEM vacuum-actuated system. Although this system is relatively expensive compared to other A90 exhaust options, it offers superb build quality.

3. Remark

Remark is a relatively new name in the automotive aftermarket, however, they are well known for offering high-quality exhaust systems with surprisingly low price tags. Unlike the Capristo exhaust, the Remark exhaust system replaces the tail section and mid-pipe, including the OPF/GPF, resulting in a much louder exhaust note.

This exhaust system is constructed from high-quality 2.5-3″ mandrel bent T304 stainless steel tubing with 4.5″ tips. The tips are constructed from real titanium, giving the Remark exhaust a unique performance look. The electronic valve system seamlessly integrates with the OEM exhaust valve just like Capristo exhaust.

4. Milltek

For A90 Supra owners who want the loudest exhaust system possible without deleting the OPF system, Milltek offers the perfect solution. Constructed from high-quality stainless steel, the Milltek exhaust offers great build-quality.

Their axle-back system is available in valved, resonated, and non-resonated configurations. They also offer downpipes for A90 owners who want the best performance possible.

5. Armytrix

Armytrix is one of the leaders in the high-end exhaust aftermarket and they revolutionized the aftermarket by popularizing valved systems for vehicles which don’t utilize exhaust valves in stock form. For the A90 Supra, they’re offering a catback system as well as downpipes.

The catback is constructed from high-quality mandrel bent stainless steel tubing and includes the front-pipe, mid-pipe, and Valvetronic muffler. The tips are available in Matte Black, Carbon Fiber, Chrome Silver, and Blue Coated finishes. Compared to every other system on this list, the Armytrix exhaust offers the best bang-for-buck.

6. HKS

HKS was one of the first companies to offer an aftermarket exhaust for the A90 Supra and their exhaust is what we’ve chosen to run on our own Project Supra. This system is constructed from high-quality SUS304 stainless steel tubing and features a valved system which integrates with the OEM valve electronics.

This system replaces the OPF, giving you the most performance and sound possible. The tips are titanium with a blued finish, giving the A90 a very aggressive look.

7. MagnaFlow

If you want a modular exhaust which allows for the loudest exhaust possible, Magnaflow’s Xmod Series exhaust is a great choice. By using two small mufflers which can easily be replaced with simple tubing, you can make your A90 Supra very loud.

A unique feature of the Magnaflow exhaust is the tuned chamber resonator, which eliminates all exhaust drone and keeps the cabin of your Supra very quiet. Just like many other exhaust systems on this list, the MagnaFlow exhaust offers a valve system with integrates with the OEM valve system.

As you probably already know, the Polaris RZR has become one of the most popular UTVs in the world. It started life nearly a decade ago as a small 50-inch wide trail vehicle, but has since transformed into a high-performance beast with a powerful turbocharged engine. With the RZR’s explosion in popularity came a massive rise in companies offering aftermarket parts to make it even better.

Typically, RZR XP Turbo owners will install an exhaust system, a tune, an intake, and a few other parts. While the turbocharged engine provides great power when modified, it doesn’t offer particularly good peak power, since the OEM turbocharger is very small. If you want more peak power, a larger and more efficient turbocharger is a must.

The all-new Agency Power turbocharger was designed to improve power throughout the entire rev-range without sacrificing low-end power or throttle response. Like the OEM turbocharger, Agency Power’s new upgraded turbocharger features an integrated exhaust manifold. It’s a direct bolt-on turbo, and it’s relatively easy to install.

As you can see from the specs above, the new Agency Power turbo flows significantly more air than the stock turbocharger. More importantly, Agency Power’s turbo makes a massive amount of low-end torque and provides great throttle response. With tuning and proper supporting modifications, the Agency Power turbocharger can provide 40 to 50hp gains depending on the fuel you use.

Built in North America, Agency Power’s new RZR XP Turbocharger is designed to last. After buying your Agency Power turbo there is no core requirement, so you can keep or sell your OEM turbocharger.

Since its inception in 2002, the Porsche Cayenne has been a leader in the luxury SUV market. It’s large, loaded with features, and offers decent performance, especially the higher models. Where earlier Cayenne GTS models were equipped with. 4.8L V8, the later GTS models use a 3.6L twin-turbo V6. The move to a smaller twin turbo engine improved peak horsepower and massively increase low-end torque.

In totally stock form, the 2015 – 2018 Cayenne GTS outputs around 440 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. That might sound like a lot of power, but the Cayenne is a very heavy SUV and can easily make that power feel a little underwhelming. Luckily, the twin-turbo V6 under the hood responds very well to modifications and tuning.

Why Install an ECU Flash?

The whole purpose of installing an ECU flash is to maximize your Cayenne’s potential. Aftermarket modifications such as an intake or exhaust can improve airflow through your engine, but without proper tuning the potential power gains can’t be fully realized. With an ECU tune, fueling, ignition timing, and boost can all be optimized, which results in a big power increase.

In the case of the Cayenne GTS, there is no way to install an ECU flash through the OBDII port, so the ECU must be removed so the tune file can be installed on a tuning bench. Once the tune file is installed, parameters such as air/fuel ratio, ignition timing, boost, rev limiter, speed limiter, and many more, are optimized for improved performance.

The Performance Gains

As tested on our in-house dyno, in stock form the Cayenne GTS put down 383whp and 357wtq. After our VR Tuned ECU flash was installed, the same Cayenne GTS put down 413whp and 398wtq, representing a gain of +30whp and +41wtq. With 15% drivetrain loss accounted for, the total power output of the tuned Cayenne GTS is around 480hp!

It’s no secret the FK8 Civic Type R is one of the most polarizing Honda performance cars of all time. The Can-Am X3 is an excellent UTV which offers a massive amount of performance in stock form, but enthusiasts always want more power. In 2017, the most powerful X3 models were rated at 154 horsepower, but in 2018 that was increased to 172 horsepower. Luckily, converting a 2017 model to 2018 model is a pretty easy process!

You’ll need the intercooler/fan assembly and fuel pump from the 2018 model, plus the 2018 model tune. This will take your 2017 X3 from 154 horsepower to 172 horsepower, just like the 2018 model. If you want more power, our optional VR Tuned ECU flash for 2018 – 2019 models increases power to 195hp!

As you probably already know, Can-AM makes some of the best high-performance UTVs on the market. For their 2020 lineup, Can-AM introduced the new Turbo RR models, which now output 195hp compared to previous Turbo R models which output 172hp. They achieved this big jump in power with slightly a bigger turbocharger, injectors, intercooler, MAP sensor, and a new ECU calibration.

The most important upgrade for the Turbo RR models is the larger turbo, which allows for bigger power increases through tuning! As we discovered from our previous testing, we know these new 2020 Turbo RR models are capable of producing around 225hp with our VR Tuned ECU flash. This is an impressive power figure, considering it’s a modification which can be installed in less than 10 minutes.

Our VR Tuned ECU flash for the 2020 Turbo RR models increases power by increasing boost pressure, adjusting ignition timing, and fine-tuning fueling. Where the stock car spikes to 21psi and then tapers down to 18psi, our VR Tuned ECU flash holds boost at a consistent 22.5psi throughout the entire power band.

Other modifications on this specific X3 include the popular Agency Power exhaust system. This exhaust features a valvetronic function which allows it to route exhaust gases around the muffler with the flip of a switch. It’s constructed from high-quality T304 stainless steel with TIG welding throughout.

As you can see from the dyno graph below, we found huge power gains with these two simple modifications, taking the 2020 Turbo RR X3 to a whole new level of performance.

The Can-AM X3 is well known for offering great handling and lots of power in a well-built package. For many UTV owners, it’s the near perfect machine. The Audi S6 is one of the best performance sedans currently on the market, offering insane amounts of performance at a relatively affordable price compared to some of its competition. Even with fantastic performance in stock form, the S6 has a lot of room for improvement. Audi has to keep the power level on the S6 limited to protect sales of the RS6, but through the magic of tuning that power can be uncovered.

This specific S6 features upgraded turbochargers from an RS6, bumping power up from the stock 420hp figure. Even with the upgraded turbochargers, there is massive room for improvement on the S6. In the case of a stock S6, our VR Tuned ECU flash increases power to 520HP and 516LB-FT. For this S6 with upgraded RS6 turbochargers, we used a modified tune file which increases power even further!

Power is the main reason many enthusiasts tune their vehicles, however, throttle response and fuel economy are also improved with tuning.

The BMW M3 is one of the most iconic performance cars of all time and it has been the benchmark for performance sedans for decades. The current F8X series cars offer more performance than any M3 before, but enthusiasts always want more. With BMW’s shift from naturally aspirated to turbocharged engines comes an increase in tune-ability.

Where previous M3s had very small power gains from aftermarket parts or tuning, the F80 M3 sees a massive increase in horsepower and torque with some simple tuning. This is where our tuning division, VR Tuned, comes into play. While other tuning solutions on the market require you to have your ECU popped open, with our tune everything is done through the OBD port, making it possible for you to tune your M3 at home in your driveway!

To flash your M3 in the comfort of your on driveway, you will need a Windows powered computer or a Mac dual-booted into Windows. Boot up the VR Tuned software and follow the instructions. If you follow the instructions, the entire flashing process should take under 30 minutes. You can even revert back to the stock file if you need to.

With more vehicles using turbocharged engines, ECU tuning is becoming a very popular method of increasing power. With modern turbocharged engines, turning up the boost is incredibly easy, since boost control is entirely controlled by the ECU. Ford EcoBoost engines are well known for producing a massive amount of low-end torque with tuning, and the 3.5L EcoBoost under the hood of the Raptor is no different.

Ford’s usage of small turbochargers limits the amount of peak power which is possible with their 3.5L EcoBoost, however, it allows for a massive amount of low-end torque. With 450HP and 450LB-FT, the EcoBoost Raptor offers a massive amount of performance, however, with some simple ECU tuning that power figure is massively increased.

With our VR Tuned ECU flash, the EcoBoost Raptor jumps from 450HP/450LB-FT to 530HP/520LB-FT. That massive increase in power helps the Raptor pull off the line crazy fast. On top of the increased power, fuel economy, turbo lag, and throttle response are also improved.

Mercedes-Benz is best known as a luxury automotive manufacturer, but they also produce some of the best high-performance cars on the market. The C63s, specifically, combines the best of a relatively small luxury sedan and an extremely high-performance engine.

Under the hood of the W205 C63 you’ll find Mercedes’ well known and loved 4.0L bi-turbo engine, outputting over 500hp and 500lb-ft of torque. Although that an insane amount of power, it’s relatively mild compared to what the engine is capable of. To help introduce their prospective customers to more expensive vehicles, Mercedes-Benz holds the performance back on the C63 and C63S.

All of this hidden performance can be uncovered and tapped into with a simple ECU tune. By changing the parameters which the engine operates within, power can be massively improved without sacrificing reliability. In the case of the C63s, our VR Tuned ECU flash increases power by 60HP and 114LB-FT!

A common complaint amongst Wrangler owners is the lack of horsepower. In stock form, the JL Wrangler is underpowered and slow, and once you add bigger tires, a lift kit, and bumpers, the problem only becomes worse. Luckily, getting more power from the JL Wrangler is relatively easy for both the 2.0T and 3.6L models.

For JL Wrangler owners who want more power and more sound without the hassle of installing a full catback exhaust, Injen’s new axle-back exhaust is the perfect solution. As the name suggests, this new Injen exhaust replaces the OEM exhaust from the axle to the tips.

The system is constructed from high-quality 304 stainless steel, with mandrel-bent tubing to increase flow. With two small mufflers, the Injen exhaust is slightly louder than stock, giving your JL Wrangler a very clean and aggressive exhaust note.

When Hyundai launched the Genesis Coupe, they offered two engine options: a 2.0T turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.8L V6. In 2013, both engines received significant power increases, however, the 2.0T was still under 300hp, a number which Hyundai could have easily provided with a few modifications. Although Hyundai failed to give the 2.0T Genesis a decent amount of power, the turbocharged nature of this engine makes it easy to increase power.

We developed our VR Tuned ECU Flash for the BK2 2.0T Genesis Coupe to increase power and improve drivability without reducing long-term reliability. By increasing boost, fine tuning air-fuel ratios, and using conservative ignition timing, we created a tune file which takes the Genesis Coupe from 275hp to 305hp.

At the low-end of the power band, our tune file adds 50lb-ft of torque, helping you pull off the line and out of corners much faster. Furthermore, throttle response is improved and turbo lag is decreased slightly. For those who want even more power, our tune file will adapt to any basic bolt-on modifications you add!
